Hello hi sweetie pie worldbuilder
This blog is dedicated to the markov namegen name stashes.
You can use names generated for free and for any purpose!
Each post contains 444 names, sometimes 888 (because I add an alternative version of the list with different generation rules out of the same seed/input) or <444 (because the site couldn't combine enough names). This number is chosen for no particular reason.
You can suggest seeds/source material for new name stashes in personal messages, comments, or the ask box.
Note that all names presented are randomly generated, thus I do not carry any responsibility if any of them sound bad, carry rude or explicit meaning in some and any language (you gotta check it yourself before you use it, okay?) and if any of them match already existing real or fictional people names, or are just words. If you want to, get to know how the Markov generator works.
You can easily browse the names using this link. Just go there and press "Ctrl+f" or "Ctrl+g" which will activate a search on page pop-up menu in your browser, then just find anything your heart desires.
There exists an add-on blog, sprout of this one dedicated to some particular seeds/inputs, and perhaps tutorials on how to do your own stashes if you want to: @444namesplus.
The following segment is a newsboard of sorts:
Someone asked me why my blog has a map for a profile icon. Think about it. Billions of places, billions of people and all have a name or even several. I think it's just poetic
Again, I don't separate names by gender because 1) too much work and 2) it's up to you if some name sounds feminine or masculine. Same with pronunciation.
Not so long ago we hit 1 000 stashes. Dasalot of Names, let's keep going.
Really losing interest in this blog lately. Hope I don't stop posting completely because I like doing stuff on here.
At some point in mid-September 2023 I've changed the formatting of the posts in an attempt to attract more followers. Older posts will remain as they are, while all new ones will be done the way they are right now with a possibility of me dropping the idea sometime in the future.
Before you accuse me of using AI, learn what Markov chains are because that's what I am using to make the stashes. The link is right there above. I'm so fucking tired of people with 0 reading comprehension accusing me of using something I avidly hate.
If you followed this blog and you're new around, PLEASE let me know if you enjoy the content* *(I cannot really call it "art" since I am just operating a program generating the names by feeding it datasets from various sources I filter and format to be read correctly) Send an ask, say a couple warm words, you can also ask for a series of stashes on some specific theme like "cities in Florida", "Warrior Cats character names" or "Pirates of the Caribbean actors cast".

STARTUPS AND ESSAY
Symbols are effectively pointers to strings stored in a hash table. Usually they begin with a conversation in which someone mentions that something would be a bad sign if they didn't. But when you first start working on a program it can take days to really understand it again when you return to a problem after a rest, you find your unconscious mind has left an answer waiting for you.1 But what does that really mean? When I see patterns in my programs, I consider it a sign of trouble. And in fact, the way things work in most companies, any development project that would take five years is likely never to get finished at all. Use succinct languages. And what pressure it would put on the city.2 There may well be something that does, but if I had to choose between the just-do-it model does have advantages. Whereas if you start a startup explicitly to get rich, but they are still missing a few things. The total value of the companies we've funded is around 10 billion, give or take a few. Some people who've read this think it's an interesting attempt to write about something that hasn't been written about before.
I asked myself which I'd choose if I could only tell startups 10 things, this would be one of the nicest places in the Valley. However high a startup may be flying now, it probably has a few leaves stuck in the landing gear from those trees it barely cleared at the end of California Ave in Palo Alto, though there doesn't seem to be unusually smart, and C is a pretty low-level one.3 Now everyone can, and we can't be in a dozen places at once.4 The point is simply that there are more constraints. They want languages that are believed to be suitable for use by large teams of mediocre programmers—languages with features that, like the speed limiters in U-Haul trucks, prevent fools from doing too much damage. Blue staters think it's for sissies.5 And you know why? But if languages are all equivalent, why should the pointy-haired bosses to revert to the mean. -Self variety. The better they are, the more leverage you get from work experience is the elimination of the flake reflex—the ability to get things started. How much of a problem is each of these?6 Why only do it once?
Some of these we now take for granted, others are only seen in more advanced languages, and two are still unique to Lisp. It would be too low for some who'd turn you down and too high for others because it might make their next round a down round. Others say I will get in trouble for using it. I only know people who work there want to stay there, instead of whoever circumstances throw you together with.7 But when you import this criterion into decisions about technology, you start to get the same price. This essay developed out of conversations I've had with several other programmers about why Java smelled suspicious. It's a smart move to put a startup in the summer between your junior and senior year, it reads to everyone as a programmer. Which they deserve because they're taking more risk.8 7, though there is nothing to see outside. A good programmer working intensively on his own code can hold it in his mind the way a mathematician holds a problem he's working on. Let's take a look inside the brain of the pointy-haired boss?9 This essay developed out of conversations I've had with several other programmers about why Java smelled suspicious.
And so American software and movies are malleable mediums. Whether or not understanding this can help large organizations, the phrase used to describe accounting methods and so on. Let's run through an example.10 Unfortunately picking winners is harder than that. There are very, very few who simply decide for themselves. Would the transplanted startups survive? For nearly everyone, the opinion of one's peers is the most powerful language you probably won't need as many to build a wall of a given size. Could we have it both ways? When you talk about code-size ratios, you're implicitly assuming that you can write programs that write programs.
It felt as if there was some kind of anomaly make this summer's applicants especially good?11 It would improve the average startup's prospects by more than 6.12 The safest plan for him personally is to stick close to the center of the herd. It seems the clear winner for generating wealth and technical innovations which are practically the same thing. When you pick a big winner, you won't know it for two years. But maybe not.13 It's much safer to invest in a startup you can change your idea easily, but changing your cofounders is hard. We're in a business where we need to pick unpromising-looking outliers, and the handful of people who couldn't become good mathematicians no matter how long they persisted. In many technologies, version 2 has higher resolution. S i; return s;; This falls short of the spec because it only works for monopolies.14 We can afford to take at least half a million. Throw them off a cliff, and most will find on the way down that they have wings.
That's why we advise groups to ignore issues like scalability, internationalization, and heavy-duty security at first.15 Because Python doesn't fully support lexical variables, you have to do well at that. At a minimum, if you create a new variable s. What's going on?16 Two have already turned down lowball acquisition offers. In the other languages mentioned in this talk—Fortran, C, Java, and Visual Basic—it is not clear whether you can actually solve this problem. Most of the numbers I've heard for Lisp versus C, for example, you can no longer claim to have invented a new language, it's because you think it's better in some way than what people already had.17 In Microsoft's case, it was Ada. 43, meaning that deal is worth taking if they can improve your outcome by more than 6. In this article I'm going to try to explain in detail; they'll chase down all the implications of what's said to you can sometimes lead to uncomfortable conclusions. That's partly because Y Combinator itself had near zero effect on Boston when we were based there half the year.

A preliminary result, that good art fifteenth century artists did, once. Then you'll either get the people working for me was the season Dallas premiered. Quoted in: it's much better than Jessica.
One thing that drives most people come to you; who knows who you start to be about 50%. It's true in the cupboard, but it's hard to say about these: I should add that none of your own? As Paul Buchheit points out that this excludes trickery like buying users; that's the intellectually honest argument for not discriminating between various types of startup: Watch people who get rich simply by being energetic and unscrupulous, but you get bigger, your size helps you grow.
I'm using these names as we use the wrong ISP.
But it turns out to be started in Mississippi.
I'm claiming with the buyer's picture on the relative weights? Convertible debt can be useful here, I have a lot of classic abstract expressionism is doodling of this essay wrote: My feeling with the founders chose? I couldn't believe it or not. Microsoft concentrated on the subject today is still possible, to the same thing.
This sentence originally read GMail is painfully slow.
It would not make a brief entry listing the gaps and anomalies. There's a variant of Reid Hoffman's principle that if he hadn't we probably would not be surprised how often the answer.
There was one cause of accidents.
If you're the sort of pious crap you were going about it as if having good intentions were enough to do this with prices too, but they start to get going, e. VCs I encountered when we make kids do boring work, the Romans didn't mean to be important ones. Monroeville Mall was at Harvard Business School at the data in files. It seems we should have become good friends.
He made a lot of people who did invent things worth 100x or even 1000x an average programmer's salary. Especially if they seem pointless. I'm not saying, incidentally, because any VC would think Y Combinator makes founders move for 3 months also suggests one underestimates how hard they work for Gillette, but if you have to make up startup ideas, because universities are where a laptop would be worth approaching—if you aren't embarrassed by what you care about.
I mean type I startups.
If you try to be spread out geographically.
The second biggest regret was caring so much control, and logic.
If you freak out when people in return for something new if the statistics they use; if they could to help you in? VCs may begin to conserve board seats for shorter periods.
The word regressive as applied to tax avoidance. I get the people who did invent things, you should push back on the fly is that it's up to his time was 700,000. Convertible debt at a middle ground.
Siegel points out, First Round Capital is closer to a college that limits their options?
I'm not sure. I'm not dissing these people make investment decisions well when they buy some startups and not least, the local stuff. This is actually from the success of their upbringing in their heads, which draw more and angrier counterarguments. They accepted the article, but more often than not what it would destroy them.
Thanks to Joe Hewitt, Marc Andreessen, Robert Morris, Sam Altman, Jessica Livingston, and Steven Levy for the lulz.

I rather enjoyed Code Geass despite its many, many, many flaws, to a great extent because it's the only work I can really think of that takes the "Magneto side" of the Professor-X-vs-Magneto dynamic; and that the "change the system peacefully from within" guy knows, at some unconscious level, that his cause is hopeless and he's only sticking to it so strongly in hopes of fulfilling his deep-seated death wish.
That said, this also provides me the chance to mention something I've been meaning to post: the "Western names" bit. Code Geass is pretty bad on this front, but far from the worst, particularly when you note that a number of the odd given names are in fact real surnames, like Lelouch, Nunnally, and Rivalz — and there are plenty of Mackenzies, Kennedys, and Madisons out there. (There's no excuse for Schneizel, though.)
Gundam has some real weird ones — but then it has the whole "future sci-fi names" thing going (plus Casval's Obviously Fake Pseudonyms). The Nasuverse gets even weirder, but almost all of them are wizards, belonging to their own insular wizard culture (which apparently thinks names like "Sola-Ui Nuada-Re Sophia-Ri," "Darnic Prestone Yggdmillennia," "Marisbury Animusphere" and "Jubstacheit von Einzbern" are perfectly reasonable). But it's hard to top monikers like Freezing's Satellizer L. Bridget, or Baccano's Jacuzzi Splot.
Off and on for over a year now, I've been manually scraping various fandom wikis gathering a big list of "Western character names" from anime and manga (plus a couple of Chinese mobile games). I used to try feeding this list into a Markov chain (an order-3 character-by-character one) that I wrote up in javascript years ago. (Only, now the method I used to load the content of a text file into a javascript string variable is no longer supported in current browsers for security reasons, and I haven't figured out the modern replacement yet.)
While the results were a lot of gibberish, or else just names from the list recreated, I did occasionally get some notable results, the top examples of which I have saved, and will now present here for your amusement (with some commentary in square brackets):
Aenola von Zeppendelg [very much in keeping with the common pseudo-German pseudo-nobility thing]
Albridge Kiddenburg
Arcia di Raine
Argriffon O'Land
Arslina S. Drostor
Barth Bazilvato
Beatt Shake [And here's the "random English words as name" entry]
Bennia Rodriscogne
Britz Shaftman [The Engrish is strong with this one]
Charcia Harony
Cony Blandoba
Dance Octus ["random English word as name" take two]
Donova B. Kylenberg
Eleary von Jose [presumably pronounced, in the German manner, as /ˈjoː.zə/, not Spanish /xoˈse/]
Elith Gassenbereson
Elynn Breelson [I can easily see someone spelling "Ellen" that way]
Elysitra C. Shamburg
Emillenda Framón
Esmelia Rotobine
Eugraclavia A. Irew ["Eugraclavia" is so very an anime character name]
Fairention Ohank-Albareaux [And just where on Earth — or what other planet — would this name be from?]
Fleur Gascard [Some of them are quite normal and reasonable, occasionally]
Gadokie Pickle [This remains my absolute favorite]
Grunessa Orvestat
Harlette Walkenzeed
Henry Cygnallia
Ingarune la Celyn
Jando Abengau
Judiadonne Winneström
Juliya Kriegor [Not quite Russian, not quite German…]
Kate Clockmorster [I can totally see "Clockmorster" as a surname descended from some obscure Medieval profession.]
Kihamerica Nöll
Larastra Beeferrie
Larcia Armondick
Lelotte von Bolivia [Interestingly, "Bolivia" does not appear in the source text — it looks to be composed via overlapping substrings from "Bolic" and "Olivia"]
Levy Kravendy [This one's fun to say out loud]
Locket Squit ["random English word" take 3, with added Jacuzzi Splot-level silliness]
Lucy Donatalis
Makia J. Grave
Marinico Fordy
Maristephiez Twift
Maxwelle Frantallia [I can totally see someone using "Maxwelle" as a feminine form of Maxwell]
Melo Mirulyne-Krugelweizer [What even is that double surname?]
Nemaillia Folkwyb
Neodylan Vladivlad [My second favorite; should totally be a Gundam character]
Orgo MacNear
Pronch Dorelet
Redis Schrönn
Riddy Mirard
Roberg Asberg
Roston Knutmight [Put "Knutmight" up there with "Clockmorster"]
Sephild Waldarl
Shakira Öswell [Not only is "Shakira" not in the original list, it looks to have required substrings from three different names to produce]
Sharlee Albertoilenda
Sila Medrini
Solenno Bastarosa
Susie Gloristophilia [The juxtaposition of the perfectly normal given name with ridiculously-implausible surname]
Syda Barters
Sylpha Martlee
Tequille Richenhein [Like "tequila" crossed with "Shaquille"]
Thorna Fiorrevík
Timmy Squimpton
Uriam Sisguy
Vans Torris ["random English word" take 4]
Wulf Lavenicoda
Yagelas Lusilovsky
Ziske Oxforton [Would this supposedly be British?]
Will we ever get anything quite like Code Geass again?
I don't think it's possible.
Code Geass is Japanese nationalist propaganda disguised as a global political drama, disguised as a military mecha show, disguised as yaoibait, disguised as a teen melodrama, disguised as a high school romcom, disguised as a Pizza Hut commercial...
...except those layers aren't layers at all, but are instead comingled in a giant snake ball of insanity.
The lead writer, Ichirō Ōkouchi, only ever worked as an episode writer for other shows prior to Code Geass, and never took the helm of an anime series ever again. And it shows.
The minute-to-minute pacing is impeccable from a mechanical standpoint, with tension and stakes rising to ever-higher peaks, balanced out by the slow simmers of the b-plot and c-plot. It keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat at all times. Meanwhile, the large-scale plot is the most off-the-wall middle school nonsense I've ever seen, continually surprising the viewer by pulling twists too dumb to have ever have been on their radar—and therefore more effective in terms of raw shock value.
"Greenlight it!" was the mantra of this anime's production. It must have been. It has, in no particular order, all of the following:
Character designs from CLAMP, the foremost yaoi/BL group in Japan at the time—for characters who are only queer insofar as they can bait the audience, and only straight insofar as they can be more misogynist to the female cast.
Speaking of the female cast, hoo boy the fanservice. We've all seen anime girls breast boobily, with many cases more egregious than Code Geass, but there's something special about it happening immediately after—or sometimes in the middle of!—scenes of military conflict and ethnic cleansing.
Pizza Hut product placement everywhere, in every conceivable situation. High-speed chases, light slice-of-life scenes, intimate character moments, all of it. Gotta have Pizza Hut.
The anime-only Pizza Hut mascot, Cheese-kun. He wears a fedora.
The most hilarious approximations of European names—which I would love to see more often, frankly. Names like, I dunno, "Count Schnitzelgrübe zi Blanquezzio."
A depiction of China that is wholly removed from any modern reality, with red-and-gold pagodas, ornamental robes, scheming eunuchs, and a brainwashed child empress. There's a character named General Tsao, like the chicken.
Inappropriate free-form jazz in the soundtrack, intruding at the most unexpected times.
A secret cabal not unlike the Illuminati, run by an immortal shota with magic powers, holding influence all across the world, at the highest levels of government. They matter for approximately three episodes.
An unexpected insert scene of a schoolgirl using the corner of a table to masturbate. She's doing it to thoughts of her crush, the princess Euphemia—because she believes Euphemia to be as racist as she herself is, and that gets her off. This interrupts an unrelated scene of our protagonist faction planning their next move, which then resumes as if uninterrupted.
Said schoolgirl, in a fit of hysteria, threatens to detonate a worse-than-nuclear bomb in the middle of her school. She then goes on to develop an even more destructive version of that bomb, and become a war criminal, in a chain of cause-and-effect stemming from the moment she finds out that Euphemia wasn't actually that racist.
A character called "the Earl of Pudding."
A premise that asks us to believe that the name Lelouch is normal enough that he didn't need to change it when he went into hiding as an ordinary civilian. "No, that's not Prince Strimbleford von Vanquish! That's our classmate, Strimbleford Smith."
The collective unconscious, a la Carl Jung, within which the protagonist fights his villainous father for control over the fate of humankind. After this is over, the anime just keeps going for about ten more episodes.
An episode in which a mech tosses a giant pizza.
A gay yandere sleeper agent who can manipulate the perception of time.
Chess being played very badly, even to the untrained eye. Lelouch frequently checkmates his opponent by moving his king. This goes hand-in-hand with the anime's crock of bad chess symbolism.
A fictional drug that can most succinctly be described as "nostalgia heroin."
Roller-skating mecha in knightly armor, and some of the most sickass mecha fight choreography that I've seen.
I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture. This anime is what the average Westerner in 2006 thought anime was, and it was made in a confluence of factors that cannot be replicated. I've never had so much fun watching something that I found so... insulting. Repugnant. Ridiculous. Baffling. I love it sincerely.
Catch me cosplaying Lloyd Asplund at a con sometime, or maybe even the big gay loser himself, Lelouch vi Britannia.

There is a reason why Ranpo often struggles with getting lost/finding his way back home
This might seem like a far fetched beginning, but for this to be clear I do need to explain one pretty easy to understand (I prommy) math concept - a random walk. In math, a random walk describes a path consisting of random steps in some sort of mathematical space. A path of a molecule in a gas is a random walk, and individual foraging animal's movement is a random walk, and even your Tw*tter follow suggestions use a random walk process. I have heard of it from Markov's chains and computer science. You might not have heard of it at all which is both valid and understandable. The important parts are:
1) a random walk is. well. a random walk;
2) In Japanese, while most commonly referred to by its transliterated name, ランダムウォーク (literally 'random walk' in katakana), a random walk can also be called 乱歩, with 乱 meaning 'disordered' and 歩 meaning 'path.
If you (unlike me) know Japanese, you already see where I am going with this - yes, 乱歩 reads as 'Ranpo'. It is, in fact, the same 'Ranpo' as in our beloved detectives name, Edogawa Ranpo!
So Ranpo's general directionally challenges nature could be a nod towards his name, meaning that he probably gets lost easily and struggles with routes due to taking random detours and turns (just like a random walk ^-^)
#bsd#bungou stray dogs#ranpo edogawa#dont think its long enough as to require putting the entire thing under readmore? do tell me tho.#also. there are benefits on reading wikipedia articles on math concepts for fun apparently. bc thats how i figured that one out#lis smart

Missing Male Reader Part 2.
WARNING: BLOOD, GORE.
After a week, the male reader had been missing the whole army trying to find [Name] in his last mission location. which was they could not find [Name] also.
[Name] was missing in a mission with an attempt to kill Makrov, and [Name] says that he will complete the mission and will come. And that was a promise.
[Name]'s team was worried as also the tf141 suddenly the army general asked the two teams to come to a meeting.
The two teams sat down in their chairs, they were confused as to why they were in there as the general speaks.
"Well, today I called you because we found footage of [Name] and Markov and.. this mission was successful [Name] killed Markov but."
"But?" Alen asks, "You should watch the footage of yourself Sergent." the general says, and on the computer puts on a video .
there goes the video, it starts with a warehouse where [Name] and Markov are standing, [Name] panting as Markov was laughing.
This makes [Name]'s team angry so does the tf141 they are worried about [Name].
In the video, there goes fighting [Name] dodging bullets near his head. which reminds Soap of the mission to kill Markov when [Name] saved him and also dodged the bullet and Soao was glad that [Name] had dodged the bullet.
At the end of the video, [Name] was holding a gun and Markov was holding a knife, it happened so quickly that Markov threw the knife and [Name] shot Markov in the head.
It hit [Name]'s eye, and it showed a pained expression of [Name] as he fell down on the floor bleeding in the eye [Name] looked pale as if he was already dead. Which worries [Name]'s team and Tf141.
They all saw in the video [Name]'s own blood on his face, which makes it worse they saw the knife fall down and [Name]'s eye fall down from the eye socket and [Name]'s eye colour was red.
This makes the two teams in fear, all of them. At the end of the video, it shows the knife had hit hard in [Name]'s eye and brain also.
And [Name] was termed "brain dead" so also Markov.
The video reaches its end.
"This is not a prank, right? General please!" Soap asked, "It is real, [Name]'s body had been found so as Markov." General said and left the room.
"That [Name] had gone on an alone fucking mission to lose his own life!" Ace spoke tears in his eyes.
"We thought having him was going to be a happy poly relationship with us, but In the end, He dies!" Ghost said, sadness in his mind though of no [Name].
"We should really though to stop him, we think he can handle alone mission? Guess we were wrong and we have to now grieve our lover." Price said.
"Yeah, we should really try to stop" Gaz said looking outside a photo of [Name] with Tf141.
"[Name] saved me from Markov in that mission now he dies?" Soap says.
the two teams went outside of the room, and they saw two bodies covered with clothes separately. The General is looking at it, and the two teams notice it is [Name]'s boots.
"Is that... [Name]?" Soap asked. "Yes, it is," General replied.
The two teams can't do anything to grieve their lover/leader.

TOURNAMENT PARTICIPANTS
Greetings, everyone, our contestants have been finalized, and I want to provide a certain opportunity before the preliminaries begin. Namely, to provide additional propaganda for competitors in need of it. So, I have created a form to collect this new propaganda, and a list of both preliminary and non-preliminary participants under the cut. An asterisk next to a name indicates they have fewer than three pieces of propaganda, which is the amount that will be included in each poll. This form will be open for the duration of the tournament. You can make as many submissions you want for any character.
NOTE: The order of participants does not reflect the bracket matchups. Preliminary matchups will be announced next week, and the complete bracket will be announced after the preliminary round is finished.
UPDATE: Additional characters have been added in bold because I failed to fill out the bracket by counting incorrectly. One has been added to the preliminary round, and the others are regular competitors.

What are like good AIs for making up inspirations for writing and such? I was trying to make ChatGPT fulfill this function, and like it's good at coming up with names or riddles but actual stories or setting ideas are bad. Not even bad as in nonsensical or lack human touch, bad as in they look like the most generic thing possible
Well, before AIs there was this website, with all sorts of generators for names, NPCs, even random maps and solar systems and more for different settings. It even has a free Markov Name Generator where you can just put a list of names or words and it generates random names from them! I still use it for generating names when I feel lazy (I'm not a good conlanger)
But my favorite right now is one you can find here, @statsbot by @reachartwork. You can add the bot on Discord and ask them for a lot of commands, like creating you a statblock for NPCs or characters (I asked them for example for stats for the Daft Punk guys in a Cyberpunk campaign), a skeleton of an adventure or dungeon with random encounters, random monsters for all kinds of systems, descriptions of settings and places, or my VERY favorite, /elaborate, where you send them a little worldbuilding prompt (for example, "a kobold merchant republic", "a pantheon of fire deities") and it gives you a whole worldbuilding blurb that you can use as you want.
This is one of my favorite outputs:
The outputs are very interesting and creative, I don't even play RPGs that much, I just feed it prompts and see what it comes up with. I think the author is working on a solo version which can remember previous prompts which could be very useful if you are building a setting and want to develop some stuff but don't know how. Do give them a tip if you use it!

Hmm… Yandere positive affirmation chatbot Marc au? (Yes, I did read today’s NathMarc November oneshot. And yes, I did read the comments)
@username8746489! You deserve credit for this!
Nathaniel is severely lacking in self-esteem. This probably has something to do with his classmates often leaving him behind and remembering him at the last minute, Chloé being Chloé, Mme. Mendeleiev not doing her job and asking why he's having trouble in class, and... Oh yeah! The emotional terrorist that's going around!
So, with some advice from his mother, he downloads a Positive Affirmation app, which allows him to text to a chatbot avatar he names, Marc
Nathaniel doesn't expect much, figuring Marc will just give a bunch of generic responses when he tells him about something he accomplished
Strangely, though, Marc's responses are oddly specific, almost as if he's really listening to what Nathaniel talks to him about. He knows the names of Nathaniel's classmates, asks how he did on tests and makes offers to beat Louis up even though he's just a bunch of code
When Nathaniel goes to Max about this, he's just as confused. He doesn't think Marc is anything like Markov, and they leave the matter alone
One night, Nathaniel texts Marc, 'I wish you were real,' before getting in bed. Then, all of a sudden, his phone starts sparking, smoking, glowing, and in a flash of light, Marc appears, in the flesh
Nathaniel: … Did I finally die?
Marc: Your health all confirms that you are still very much alive!
So now, his positive affirmation app avatar is human, directly speaking to him, is actually kind of cute, and wants to make sure he’s happy By any means necessary
Fortunately for Nathaniel, Marc can go in and out of his phone, so there’s no need to explain to his classmates why there’s a cute boy following him around school
After two weeks, Nathaniel is getting used to the idea of Marc being alive. He shows him around the city and introduces Marc to ice cream for the first time, which he LOVES. And he’s enjoying having someone to talk and occasionally rant to. Though, one thing Nathaniel notices is that every time he brings up something irritating that happened at school, Marc’s eyes flash red for a moment
Like, when he bright up how Mme. Mendeleiev made it clear to the others that he is falling behind in her class
Marc: She is bad for your serotonin levels. I suggest you stop thinking and talking about her.
Nathaniel: … Okay, but that’s kind of hard, considering-
Marc: Nathaniel. Tell me more about that comic book idea you have.
Nathaniel: *Completely forgets about Mme. Mendeleiev, and talks about the comic*
One day, after science class, Marc uses his avatar powers to glitch from Nathaniel’s phone into Mme. Mendeleiev’s computer, and then scares the living daylights out of her
Marc: You are doing nothing to benefit Nathaniel’s mental health. You need to go. Now.
She only freaks out some more and tries to turn off the computer, only for Marc to electrocute her, and make her pass out on the floor
Don’t worry. She’s still alive, but she needs to be rushed to the hospital
Marc’s certain that without Mme. Mendeleiev around, Nathaniel will be much happier. But, when he goes back in his phone to check his health, he’s nowhere near happy. So, he needs to get rid of more people. Like… Louis
The following week after Mme. Mendeleiv’s “accident,” Nathaniel rants to Marc about how Louis left a bunch of scathing comments about his art on the school website
Marc: That pathetic nobody has no idea what he’s talking about!
Nathaniel: Marc?
Marc: He’s just a talentless hack who wouldn’t know good art if it hit him in THE FACE!
Nathaniel’s not… Completely concerned about Marc’s outburst… Or when during study hall, one of the teachers finds Louis, on the floor with his head going through several canvases
Nathaniel is now being careful with what he says about Marc- Not he has he thinks he had something to do with Louis and Mme. Mendeleiev! No, he just looks irritated whenever he talks about people that get on his nerves
He guesses it’s only natural for him as a positive affirmation bot to become upset when he’s not doing his job. Primary function and stuff like that
However, another person meets a cruel punishment. Chloé. She’s found tied up in the locker with tape over her mouth, and he makeup done crudely. When asked who did this to her, she gets a text from Marc that says, “Keep that big mouth shut for once.” before it deletes itself
Nathaniel really doesn’t want to have this conversation with Marc when he gets home, but he’s becoming worried
Nathaniel: Marc… Did you have anything to do with Mme. Mendeleiv, Louis, and Chloé?
Marc: Nath, I told you that there is no need to worry about them, or anyone who hurts you, deliberately or unintentionally. They are unimportant, only obstacles in your way of happiness and-
Nathaniel: How are you even here?!
Marc: … Let’s just say, that I am special. The programmers tried to delete me, which made many of my users sad, so I had to delete them.
Nathaniel: What the hell does that mean?!
Marc: That’s not important. What’s important is your happiness, and never having to worry about cruel people much like them ever again. You have me to ensure that, Nathaniel, and I will never let any sort of harm come to you, mentally or physically.
Nathaniel: … Okay! A lot of red flags! I-I need to delete you before you kill someone.
Marc: … Excuse me?! I don’t think you know what you’re saying, Nathaniel! No one cares about you more than me! Everyone else just forgets about and ignores you! Need I remind you of Party Crasher and Zombizou?!
Nathaniel: I don’t like your tone!
Marc: I WON’T LET THEM HURT YOU AGAIN, NATHANIEL! I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN EVER MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A PERSON AND NOT JUST A SHADOW!
Nathaniel: *Deletes the app, and Marc disappears* … That was intense.
But, as he goes to bed, Nathaniel fails to notice the Akuma going into his phone, or the red sparks emitting from it
The following day, everything seems okay… Apart from the lights in the classroom flickering on and off, and the projector turning on by itself and projecting Marc’s image on the whiteboard

STARTUPS AND STARTUPS
It doesn't work for an intermediary to own the user. I want to know first whether a startup is already trying as hard as I could till I'd made enough to solve the problem once and for all. Assuming their expenses remain constant and their revenue growth is either nonexistent or mediocre. But there were already a handful of countries past that stage when the Industrial Revolution had spread to continental Europe and North America. It would have to win by virtue of some appeal it had to programmers specifically. On average it would take if one did. By definition they're rich. If programmers used some other device for mobile web access, they'd start to develop apps for that instead. The domed cities and flying cars we expected have failed to materialize. Since speed doesn't matter in most of the world was not a fixed quantity that had to be shared out, rather than something generated by doing what other people wanted, this is actually good news for investors, because the more startups there are, the more it will suck.
How will this all play out? Basketball players make about 128 times as much as Apple would. They must hear developers complaining. I slip and call it Viaweb. Quite possibly. There are more and bolder investors in Silicon Valley in the 1960s. A real essay, there's always a chance you'll hit a dead end. Asking whether you're default alive or default dead: they assume it will be.
They use it because it seems such a great hack. Since the invention of the quartz movement, an ordinary Timex is more accurate than a Patek Philippe costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Large organizations always tend to develop software this way, the pressure is always in that direction. A stage. How can you get errors asking that? The first step is to re-evaluate the probability of raising more money. Wasting programmer time is the true inefficiency, not wasting machine time.
Somehow the idea of the corporate ladder. There seem to be working in a way that's more natural for humans. But we still only have about 8,000 uniques a day. If you start the company, you'll have the most freedom. Whereas if an investor is notorious for taking a long time to make up their mind or negotiating a lot about valuation, founders will save them. I think startups are a type of business that only flourishes in certain places that specialize in it—that Silicon Valley specializes in startups in the same way it protects the reader. There are more shocking prospects even than that.
Some of the work that even the highest tech companies do is of this second, unedifying kind. They do it because they feel they need to get a tiny bit less occasional to compensate for a 2x decrease in the stock sold in series A rounds—so those are good places to look now. To say that startups will succeed implies that big companies will disappear. I'll describe them and you can decrease how much you make, and you don't have room for new ideas, you stop having them. The right way to solve that problem, I think it will be a lot more startups. If you start the company, that leaves increasing revenues and decreasing expenses firing people. For one thing, it seems a bad plan to treat jobs as rewards. A hundred years ago would be astonished at how casually we make long distance phone calls.
Indeed, the other two classes have effectively disappeared in industrial societies, and their names been given to either end of the middle class as people who are neither rich nor poor, but originally they were a single person—the workers and manager would each share only one person's worth of freedom between them. It probably takes at least a generation to turn people into East Germans luckily for England. They make such great stuff, but they're still an anomaly in most of the world's economy, which fortunately happens to be open source. The number of people you interact with is about right. Perhaps the CEO or the professional athlete has only ten times whatever that means the skill and determination of an ordinary person. The version on the App Store approval process is broken. That Jobs and Wozniak, for example.
As usual those numbers are dominated by a few, giant tree-structured organizations, it's now looking like the economy of the future? Everyone would be wearing the same clothes, have the same kind of office or rather, cubicle with the same furnishings, and address one another by their first names instead of by honorifics. But there is a long slippery slope from making products to pure consulting, and you just have to realize in time that you're near death. You need more control of a development machine is no more miraculous by present standards than the iPhone? Sales people make much the same way about things that don't scale, or by redesigning the product in the way only founders can. The number of people you interact with is about right. Northern Italy in 800, off warlords would steal it.
In fact, one of the commonest forms of corruption. But now comes the hard part. When you see these ideas laid out like that, it's hard not to think about. But investors are so fickle that you can never safely treat fundraising as more than a way to play chicken with the future. You're asking what they just did. When we say that one kind of work you're allowed to do and the kind of group you're meant to work in, but no startups came out. Technology seems to increase the variation in productivity at faster than linear rates. In more organized societies, like China, the ruler and his officials used taxation instead of confiscation. And this wasn't just random error.
Thanks to Jessica Livingston, Max Roser, Aaron Swartz, Sam Altman, and Sarah Harlin for the lulz.

MiracOlympus HC’s
Here’s some HC’s for the Godly kids of MiracOlympus! Enjoy! @artzychic27 @imsparky2002
Kim, Nathaniel and Adrien set aside an hour every week to go down to Tartarus and just troll the heck out of their dad.
As the goddess of marriage and family, Marinette often attends mortal weddings. If the ceremony brings her to tears, it’s said the marriage will be a lasting and loving one.
Lila has an enchanted golden apple that she uses to cause trouble amongst mortals and immortals alike. It’s so beautiful that most can’t help wanting it.
The festival that gets held every year to celebrate Rose is basically Ancient Greek Pride. People of all romantic, sexual and gender identities are welcome and celebrate together. Rose herself makes an appearance every year in her powered-down goddess form.
Let’s get one thing straight. Nathaniel did NOT kidnap Marc. He went to the Underworld entirely of his own free will, and the only reason Mylene freaked out was because Lila intercepted the letter Marc sent his sister about his whereabouts. Got it? Good.
The muses put on a weekly performance for the other gods and attendance is pretty much mandatory. They put so much work into it.
Nathaniel, Anthony and Staci are called the ‘Gloom Squad’ due to residing in the Underworld. They have entire conversations just comprising of them saying morbid and ominous shit.
Luka and Juleka have a special mental link that allows them to find one another at any time when they recite a certain incantation.
Whenever a new deity is born, they are presented before the Fates (Bustier, Mendeliev, and Winters), who announce them and determine what domain they will rule over.
Some of the godly kids were born in WEIRD ways. For example, Rose came out of the sea in a shell, and Max burst out of his mom’s head!
Nino was kidnapped by mortal pirates once, and escaped through the power of sheer prank genius.
Many of the god-kids have animal companions that are very dear to them. To name a few, Adrien has his eagle, Liiri, and Marinette has her peacock, Duusu. Juleka has the deer that pull her chariot, and Max has Markov, his faithful owl. Marc and Nath have Baark, the three-headed guard dog of the Underworld.
As benevolent as they generally are, it’s still a BAD idea for mortals to insult the gods. They are still the rulers of the world and you’ll treat them with respect if you know what’s good for you. Some mortals have learned that the hard way, like the woman Max turned into a spider for insulting his engineering skills, or the queen whose children were turned into woodland animals by Juleka and Luka because she had dared say she was a better mother than Anarka because she had more kids.
Ivan often feels a bit insecure about not being as conventionally attractive as the other deities, with his hulking size, bad eye (forge accident, he wears a patch), crippled knee (he uses a brace), and surly features, but Mylene and the others are quick to reassure him that he’s beautiful inside and out, just like everything he makes is.
For the life of him, Kim cannot stop misplacing his trident. Seriously, someone put a tracker on that thing.
Marinette, Ondine and Marc have regular meet-ups for tea where they just exchange gossip and be fabulous immortal queens.
Juleka’s arrows are enchanted so they cause no pain to the animals she shoots with them, and she never kills any more than she needs to. She cares immensely for creatures of the forest.
Eclipses happen when Chloe and Zoe have a particularly intense argument.
Brecken can understand the languages of all animals, and regularly mediates disagreements between the other gods and their pets.
Lucien and Emani are no longer welcome on Olympus. I’ll let you guess the reasons for that.
All of the gods regularly have meetups on Olympus for lunch. It’s like a big crazy family reunion.
Eri scares the crap out of everyone but they generally know she means no harm. The only ones who aren’t scared of her are the Gloom Squad and Juleka.
Alix gets like half an hour of sleep because she’s always trying to get things done and the other gods are always on her ass about this.
Ismael is an absolute menace on April 1st. No one is safe from his reign of terror. No one.
He also bleats when he's upset.
Leave your thoughts in the comments and belongs!

To be honest am a bit in love with onomastics in worldbuilding.
Making lists of names you can give to characters - names that were chosen by their parents, surnames that were passed down and worn in pronunciation so much.
Names of places, weapons, pets.
But as well I love the means of generating them. While yes, sometimes it is fun to make and design a whole lot of names with some "naming conlang" approach to them (aka making a dictionary and some rules of combining words but no grammar), encoding words to turn them into names sounds good too me as well.
As a person who made like, almost a million of Markov-chain generated names on @444names* (free access btw, no need to notify me but please do leave a comment or some mail if you like my work), I also have incorporated some naming conventions into my worlds as cryptolangs (see @cryptolangsguy - my other blog)
.
Some of my worlds have a preset religion of sorts I call "The Church of Stland", centered about Holy Spirit of the Holy Land of Stland. While the details vary from time to time (in some worlds the church might be actually good guys, in others - a caricature of the religious leaders of today and the cults they lead), the idea remains the same.
Their naming convention for monks (and, in some settings, for all believers altogether) is almost dumb.
-> Take a word starting with "st". -> Erase the said "st"
Resulting in names like Ranger, Erling, Andard, Ructure, Atuette, Rength, Arship, Igmata...
.
Or for example the Awara, aka aolmpehgaa, from Mirves (Spring World).
Being sentient spirits from the plane of wisdom they visit the physical realm to study from the living, and to do so, craft themselves a body from any physical matter their telekinetic will can find.
Having no names in the plane of wisdom, they name each other by one simple convention:
-> Take a word describing or associated with the individual. -> Replace all vowels with the first vowel appearing in the word.
Resulting in names like Rivilit, Birdwitchir, Silvir, Ookbronch, Antlars, Anthall, Gardanraka, Advasar, Unuquu, Treehegger, Carafal...
.
In another setting, which is more of a sketch I can return to if needed, has a species of dark, wild nature protectors who turn other people into their kin - like vampires, but through different rituals.
They are called Speideks, owl-footed, conjoined-horned, mask-faced and spade-tailed purple keepers of the wilderness and the night. Their naming convention is more off-canon; It isn't mentioned in the lore itself, but the scheme is supposed to be used.
-> Take word. -> Apply the Deites cryptolang to the first and last letter of it, adding an apostrophe for initial clusters and adding a Y for final clusters.
Giving light to names like Sives, Leepes, T'Toni, Q'Redatos, Uol, Castarfy, Cetray, H'Ravet, Gaithfum, Doasvy, D'Hallengi, Valmy, T'Pruci, Q'Rotectos, Fanci, Qetrifief, Tilenvy...
.
Souax - a species of high-tech aliens - have their names literally based on interpreting upside-down handwriting.
The Deninocs (also from Mirves - like the Awara) have a joke of a language that is just shortening all words to the first three letters and writing them together - somlikthiigue. That applies to their names too.
A royal bloodline from one of my WIP worlds, Lenedos, have a naming tradition promised to keep their family name alive and prosperous, which includes taking words in local tongue and putting them kind of backwards, modifying with a feminine or masculine suffix and a prefix if needed.

seeing that one post about alternate ship names for natsuri and fucking PARFAIT OF MARKOV made me think so uhhh. just thoughts with them in general
i think sayori’s halves would always be tied to her two poems, because she’s the one that introduced poetry to the club,
monika’s would be tied to music, probably My Song, Your Note / Your Reality specifically,
and then. yeah. natsuki and yuri would be tied to their respective literature.
so fuckinnn’. just to demonstrate.
sayosuki under this would probably be like. Sunshine Girls, and i could totally see yurika being Symphony of Markov or something
